Preparing for your procedure
For your health and safety we are very strict about the procedure process. Always consider the following 6 steps.
Dr. Ferro's rules for procedures
Dr. Ferro has complied a list of rules and advice that you must follow to stay safe and improve your chances of success. Because of its importance they are in a separate document you can easily view or print.
1. Eight hours before

Unless you request, or are told otherwise your procedure will be done with IV sedation. Because of this you should not have anything to eat or drink 8 hours prior to your appointment time. If you eat or drink anything less than 8 hours before your appointment, you may be rescheduled.
2. The day of the procedure

On the day of your procedure you should take your daily medications as usual unless otherwise told. Use just enough water to get them down. If you have any questions or concerns about this please call and speak to a nurse before your appointment.
3. For Diabetics
If you are a Diabetic you will need to let us know before your procedure is scheduled. Whenever possible you should schedule morning appointments. Any questions regarding how much or when to take your insulin should be directed to a nurse.
4. If you take a blood thinner
If you are taking any type of blood thinners we will need to know about this prior to your appointment. Depending on the type of procedure you are having you may need to stop taking blood thinners a few days before your procedure. You should talk to a nurse for instructions on how and when to do this.
5. Illness
Should you become ill or develop an infection of any kind before your procedure, you must let us know as soon as possible. The nurse will consult with Dr. Ferro to evaluate whether your appointment will need to be postponed until you are feeling better. If you show up for your appointment ill your procedure will need to be rescheduled.
6. Arrival Time
On the day of your procedure your arrival time will be approximately ½ hour prior to the procedure. This allows us the time needed to process your paperwork, answer any questions you may have and prepare you for the procedure. If you arrive late - 15 minutes or more, there is a chance you may be rescheduled.
